Based on the borders of Cumbria, Lancashire and North Yorkshire, Tulchan Textiles Ltd was acquired by Waterlinks Investments in 2003.
Established in 1984, Tulchan is a brand of hand-crafted knitwear, fleece and leisurewear for women. Many styles feature beautiful hand-stitched embroidery, appliqué and beading detailing.
Situated in a scenic part of England, Tulchan is designed in-house taking inspiration from the local countryside. Nature is woven into the fabric as well as the designs by using natural fibres to create original, comfortable clothing with a quintessentially English, hand-crafted feel.
Tulchan has both wholesale and retail divisions. It is sold through independent retailers throughout the UK, Eire, Scandinavia and the Netherlands. There are currently two Tulchan shops together with a consumer website and distance selling business.
- Based in a beautiful part of England, between the mountains of Cumbria to the west, and the Yorkshire Dales to the east, Tulchan's in-house design team take their inspiration from the surrounding landscape. Rural scenes, rustic vistas and stunning flora are lovingly recreated in superb hand-stitched detailing that provides each garment with the unique Tulchan signature.
- Tulchan are uncompromising in their use of natural fibres. Wherever possible only pure cotton, organic cotton, lambswool or merino yarns are used to produce their range of knitwear and leisurewear for women. Additional yarns are sometimes used but only to satisfy a need, for example to enhance stretch or drape.
- The Tulchan product is built around three ranges. Originals - combines hand-stitched detailing, style and comfort with the durability of natural fibres. Essentials - combines classic, modern styling with beautiful yarns and colours and designed to compliment the more embellished products. Organics - a premium range using yarns that are environmentally friendly.
- The fashion element is introduced via the collections. Each season, the collections are built around colour stories reflecting seasonal trends and styles. In this way, the best selling styles are ranged with newer pieces in the latest colourways, each with the Tulchan signature of beautifully hand-crafted embroidery and appliquéd detailing.
- Tulchan continue to supply independent retailers throughout the UK and Northern Ireland, Eire, Scandinavia and the Netherlands. Within the UK there are currently two Tulchan stand-alone stores. More recently a wholesale and consumer website has been successfully launched together with a direct to consumer mail order catalogue business.
